What will west nile virus do to you?

What will happen if you get bit by a west nile mosquito? Will it kill you?

It could kill you. Basically, the virus usually causes encephalitis, which causes your brain to swell. If you are a young child, senior citizen, or a person with immune system problems, yes, you could die from it.

it depended what strain it is the have saved some with this virus!!

no but there target is to bite you in the a s s

you will explode

It likely will not kill you, but it will make you sick. How sick you get varies from person to person.

Just because you are bitten by a mosquito infected with West Nile, that does not mean that you will also become infected. If you do become infected with the virus, the common symptoms are a rash, fever, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue. Only in very few cases will the infection lead to encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) or meningitis (inflammation of the casing around the brain). These conditions can be fatal if not monitored closely. West Nile does not descriminate based on age, so everyone is equally likely to get it. However, the very old, very young, and weak are more likely to have serious complications due to the infection. The best way to prevent getting bitten by a mosquito carrying West Nile is to stay inside. If you go outside, wear long sleeves, long pants, and/or spray yourself with an insect repellant containing DEET. I hope that helps.
