I need help!! Do i have west nile virus? |
I have 108 mosquitoe bites 4rum when i went camping @ church and i came home and i have 108 bites they itch like crazy and im scared i could die... Most people who have West Nile get mild flu symptoms, and recover without needed any medical attention. If you have a stiff neck or muscle weakness, seek medical attention. Otherwise, use anti itch topical ointments and oatmeal baths to control the itching, don't let them get infected. holy moly that is alot of mosquito bites! sorry i cant help =[ I would go to the doctor.. he can give you something for the itching and to make sure you don't get sick... and calm you down about whether or not you have west nile Well, I'm not sure what West Nile really is...but if that camp site of yours had unclean water by it then the chances are higher I think. Unless there is something badly abnormal, maybe a fever, then I would go ask a doctor. But if you feel fine (besdies the fact that....well...108 bites... yikes) then I don't think you have high chances of getting the virus. If you had West Nile virus, you wouldn't be able to count to 108 right now, so at least that's a good sign. Take a cool shower, use calamine lotion or benadryl or cortisone ointment for the itching. You could also take benadryl by mouth. Whatever you do, don't scratch the bites. You run the risk of getting them infected. Instead, if one is really itching, apply ice to it until the itching subsides. If it gets too bothersome, see a doctor. WEST NILE IS NOT VERY COMMON, BUT- AS A PRECAUTION, ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU HAVE SO MANY BITE, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR! |
