Can you catch a cold from someone who has the West Nile virus or Bronchitis? |
Both has cold or "flu-like" symptoms. bronchitis- yes very easily. west nile- no it is spread by mosquitoes. In humans the virus does not multiply as readily, and it is believed that mosquitoes biting infected mammals do not further transmit the virus, making them so-called dead-end infections.WNV has three different effects on humans. The first is an asymptomatic infection; the second is a mild febrile syndrome termed West Nile Fever;the third is a neuroinvasive disease termed West Nile meningitis or encephalitis. In infected individuals the ratio between the three states is roughly 110:30:1.so the symptoms are different.bronchitis is bacterial infection secondary to copd. very different symptoms, u cant confuse them. You can't catch a cold (rhino virus) from someone with west nile virus unless they also have a cold. Bronchitis is not a disease as much as it is a symptom. All it means is the bronchials are inflammed and secreting excess mucus. That can be the result of a cold, or it can be from breathing in an irritant or it can be from a bacteria and not a virus at all. Whether or not you can catch a cold from a person with bronchitis is directly related to why the have the condition. For example, someone with bronchitis from breathing in smoke cannot pass it on to someone else. no |
