I had West Nile and it's different for everyone. Some people don't feel anything, some get very ill, others die.
In my case I started to feel like I had to throw up for about two-three weeks. Then I felt numbness in my legs, arms, and hands. Eventually I couldn't even lay on my back because my lower spin felt like it was on fire. (almost like a tiny thin thread had to hold my upper body to my lower body). I was tired, had muscle atrophy, dizziness. It was a living nightmare. Doctors thought I had MS because of the loss of movement and sensation. It took my three years to recover. I still have flare ups every once in a while. I have a lower immune system due to the fact that doctors always gave me antibiotics for various infections while I had West Nile and didn't know it. Respiratory infections are very common as well. I finally had a spinal tap to check for MS, and West Nile and tested positive for West Nile.
My daughter just contracted it 5months ago, she was dizzy, upset stomach, respiratory infections, etc. I had her tested even though the doctors were convinced that it wasn't West Nile--test came back positive. Alternative doctors can help your recovery, doctors will only state, "there's nothing we can do."
Ask for a blood test to check for West Nile, the results should come back within a week. Insist, even if they don't think you have it, it's your body, your insurance, or your money. Which ever it is, if you think you might have it, get checked. Good luck, any questions you may email me. why is this under stds? |
