Should I try weight loss surgery ?

I am 30 years old and about to have my second child in October. I have reached my heaviest which is 300lbs> I know that after the baby some of the weight will come off but not 150lbs of it. I think two kids is all I want but my husband would like to have more. I have heard alot of stories both good and bad for weight loss surgey so I am really unsure what I should do. I am diabetic and want to get healthy for my self and for my children. Which surgery is best? Truthfully I am scared, I heard your life will not be the same and that you will not be able to eat anything becasue you are always throwing up. Can anyone give me some insight?

Hi,
You look like someone who is young and motivated! I would suggest, you take it up as a challenge and try and make best use of your time, energy and efforts Start now! It is now or never. Get active and do it continuosly. I know, it is easier said than done and I mean it. But, let me tell you, that there is no short cut and you have to work your way through persistent effort.
Try and take stairs all the time, at home, at work. Start with one and then progress. if you live/work on fourth floor, take one stair and then look for the elevator. DO it everytime you have to go up or down. Try and walk as much as you can. Avoid parking car very close to where you are going. Once you start doing this continuously, your legs soon will develop, what we call 'muscle memory' and they will take you there without you thinking about it.
All the obesity surgeries have there ups and downs. But, whatever may be the case, even after the surgery, if you do not stay active and watch what you eat and what you do, you can soon come back to square one! I mean, you can regain all that lost weight (and many times more) than before.
So, why not give your motivation a try, which will be very good for you in long run and very advantageous/healthy for the whole family. You will be the roll model for your kids and husband as well. You may try and make a group, of walkers, joggers, in the neighbourhood or at work. Works very well, as a group.
I can assure you that, if you stick to some activity each day routine, you will see the difference soon. I have seen this in many of my patients.
Ofcourse, you have to be careful, as to what and how much do you eat. Learn the food values of all the foods around you (may be from the internet). Try and write down for a couple of days, as to what you eat, drink and do. Then analyze it yourself and see where you can make a difference. All nuts are a good food, all fruits and vegetables are very healthy. I will cut down on the meat (to bare minimum -may be once a week). This is the best way to eat balanced, nutricious food and good in long run, for the whole family.
See, how many of these things you can do and watch your own prgress and the fresh and fit feeling, that goes along with it!!

should i get it also??

hi i can understand your problem but my suggestion to you is don't try surgery instead of this try to motivate yourself toward good diet and exercise.. its a best way to lose may be first you will lose very less but good thing takes time and you are diabetic too . so take it seriously..
be in good health ..take care

These surgerys are life altering, you need to do TONS of research prior to making this decision! I know of 4 people who have done it 1 had to have it undone, 1 almost died (my father) and the other two are happy as clams. there are many risk factors and what not. Yes it is good to be healthy for yourself and your children but you really need to make sure this is the right thing for you! talk with some people face to face that have had it done. My father is healthy now was about 450 lbs. now about 200. He can eat what he wants but just not large portions. and every month he has to go to the doctors to get a vitamin b-12 shot. but he is happy and much more healthy than what he was. then again we almost lost him and it was a very scary 6 months! Best of Luck to you!

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy /lapband (all types of weight loss surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your lobesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her obesity surgery after delivery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

probably you will need this answer 10 months from now-so you can store it rather than asking people again.
