Im having weight loss surgery? |
I KNOW U HAVE TO GO THREW PSYC EVALUATION, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I GO TO MY PSYC EVAL. WHAT QUESTIONS DO THEY ASK? I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2005. I started out at 268, now I鈥檓 180 and holding, after 1 year and 7 months. These links will help you in many ways to make a decision if this is for you or not. I vote yes, because it made such a difference in my life. I was taking 8 pills a day, and after my surgery, I lost my diabetes. The way they do the surgery, takes your diabetes away. I no longer have to take glucophage, and I no longer have high Cholesterol or high blood pressure. I鈥檓 down to 2 pills a day. I went from a size 26-28 to a 16-18. You would rather risk your life having surgery instead of exercising??? You're crazy!!! Look at the people on the biggest looser, if they can do it so can you! it's more like they try to prepare you for the major life change you will experience. If you don't know who you are now, you aren't going to know when you lose all the weight either. The huge change will just complicate your emotional issues, and they want to be sure you are prepared for that possibility. If you suffer with clinical depression now, you will still have it then...consider how you will deal with that....anything that is going on now, will magnify and continue after the weight loss, along with a whole new set of problems. Most who do the surgery and are successful, require plastic surgery to remove excess skin, are you aware of that, and how will you deal with it? So don't fear the psych eval, just look at it as an opportunity to gain coping skills for the major life changes you are going to experience. Good luck to you!! They want to see what your motives are. Are you depressed, are you doing this for yourself, they want to see if you are mentally ready for this life changing surgery.
