Is weight loss surgery really a good idea?

Is weight loss surgery really a good idea?

No. My sister had it done, and trust me, you CAN screw that up. She only lost maybe 170LBS and is already gaining back. Another person I know got it, lost all the weight.. and now wants it done a second time because she has gained back all of the weight. It's not a permanent fix. It's a good start but it's not just some miracle solution.

IMO, most people are not able to handle the surgery..

They also found that people who get the surgery are most likely to become alcoholics and addicts. Think about it.. you can't eat so you are just replacing one addiction for another.

Years of therapy should be required before and after that surgery.

It all depends. It is a drastic last resort, but it works.

People with morbid obesity should try diet. exercise, and medication first

If you qualify, yes.

I think it is a last option and yes it is a good idea.

As with any surgery there are always risks.

In all honesty, if you are only having weight loss surgery because you are too lazy to exercise, then no its not a good idea.

If you are having surgery because you are way past the point of working out and your weight is a serious threat to your life, then yes, its defiantely something to consider.

If surgery can be avoided, avoid it. There is always a chance for some kind of complication.

I am familiar with a lady who had bariatric surgery and went thru the hell of recovery and starvation and I about passed out when I seen her walking the other day. She is gaining the weight back. She has probably put on 75 lbs of the 150 lbs she lost.
I dont really think the surgery is a good idea. I actually think it is kind of barbaric.

The people who have died from it probably don't think so.

If you're 80 pounds overweight or more and you've tried losing weight by exercising but you cannot physically handle your weight to exercise. I think it's a good option and I know a dear friend that has lost 150 lbs this way. However you still have to exercise or you'll have the problem of sagging skin because your skin doesn't shrink as fast as your waistline does.

People give the argument that it's dangerous to go under anesthesia while being so overweight--that your heart could stop beating. I think I would rather my heart stop beating at a hospital where people have a good chance of reviving me than to have a heart attack or heart failure when no one is around. So there are risks but the benefits outweigh them. You know you'll die if you're very obese. So what's the best answer? Do you take the risk of dying or the definite outcome of being dead?

bad idea.
it's danger, i prefer eat food to loss weight

it depends on how you look at it. it can be good in someways but bad in tohers so before geting it done ask your dr about side effects...

Only if you're having severe health issues because of the weight. Try dieting and exercise... its the best thing you can do for yourself.

no it caused lifetime problems. If you dont address the reason in your head why you eat. you will continue to eat
