Which weight loss surgery has less risks, lap band surgery or mini gastric bypass? |
Which weight loss surgery has less risks, lap band surgery or mini gastric bypass? This is a more complex question that it might seem at first glance. The lap band is a simpler operation to do so it has been more widely adopted by surgeons who do not do a lot of bariatric operations. However, I personally have real questions about the durability and long term effectiveness. Clearly the band will not last forever, and in many instances will require removal or replacement. If I were the one getting the surgery I would opt for Gastric Bypass...The stability of the band has NOT been proven to my satisfaction. |
