I am considering a weight loss surgery called the Lapband, any pros, cons or thoughts?

I am considering a weight loss surgery called the Lapband, any pros, cons or thoughts?

A friend of mine was the first person to get a lap band in our state--3 or 4 years ago. She lost 133 pounds. She doesn't regret it, but she is still very overweight and constantly on a diet. I went to a different weight loss surgeon and he doesn't do lap bands on people over a certain weight--he only does bypass surgery because he feels the lap band just isn't effective after a certain BMI. (He would not have put a lap band in my friend.)
I like the idea of it being adjustable. I don't like the fact that it's only guaranteed for 15-20 years. I could put you in touch with my friend if you'd like. And you can read my weight loss odyessy on my blog (below)

I did it about a year ago. I do not regret it for a minute. You will, however, have to make changes in your eating habits. Some things you will be able to eat and some things will never go down. I am not going to tell you that it is a easy process. The surgery was a little rough, but not too bad. I have had no problems surgery wise. I do throw up a lot, though. Sometimes, I can't handle eating anything. If you need to know more, feel free to email me at ladydubois@yahoo.com
