Have you had weight loss surgery? What kind, when, what are the pros/cons and how much weight did you lose?

I had the laproscopic gastric bypass Dec 12th 2005 . I so far have lost 51 pounds . I am short 4'9" started out at 220 and now at 169 . I have not had any problems at all so I feel really lucky not only that but I was the smallest person in that office to have the bypass done . My Dr is amazed at how much I have lost with being so much smaller than all his other patients . I mean the less you weigh the less you are suppose to lose . I take my vitamins and protein everyday that's very important for me to do everyday in order to be healthy . I am so happy that I had the chance to have it done . My insurance company was great at paying too . I have Federal BLue Cross .

I myself haven't but my mom had her stomach stapled and she had to have it redone several times till she could actually eat like she was suppose to. She had a really bad time with it. She lived on cream soup for along time cuz she couldn't eat hardly anything else. But in the end I'd say it was good she's lost over 100lbs. and looks and feels great. But everyone I have know that's had it done has had allot of complications.
