I'm about to have surgery and cant workout for 6-8 weeks. now exercising 6 times wk. can I control weight

I cannot workout for 6-8 weeks due to surgery. Currently working out 6 times per week. Can I keep weight the same by just watching food choices alone. Do tend to go for cany now knowing that I will be working out. If I give that up and eat healthy for those weeks can I keep the weight loss under control.

Your body needs to heal after surgery. That takes rest and good nutrition. If gain a few pounds, take it off once you can return to physical activity. Watching what you eat, making sure all food choices build health and keeping fat and calories under control should do it. Do not deprive your body at this time. Give your body all it needs to heal.

well you better stay on a diet because as soon as you stop working out you will gain weight so be sure to be on a diet if you don't work out

What is your surgery? Planning to do rehab? If so most doctors want their patients to get back in the game. If not ask your doctor what exercises you can do. A lot of patients do water exercises to maintain fitness. If you can't exercise at all even walking then your food intake should be limited to your basal metabolic rate plus a couple of hundred calories. Thus, you need to take your weight times 10 to get a appox. calorie intake than add 200 more calories to count for movements during the day if allowed. So an example, if you weigh 150 then your calorie content would be 150 x 10 = 1500 + 200= 1700 calories appox.

Find out from your Dr. if there is a low impact sport or something you can do. If not just watch what you eat. you will probably gain a few pounds but it will quickly come back off once you get back to your routine

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
