WOMEN ONLY! health question!?

i have pain around the vulvar area and i dont want to tell anyone about this. i read something on mayoclinic and it said it might be vulvodynia. i really want some women to tell me if they have had this and how they delt with it. i am not sexually active, i am only 14. the site said its fairly common so i dont want to see a doctor. i just want some advice.

oh yeah and ive had it for about 4 months

It sounds more like vulvitis to me. It can be caused by an allergic reaction to soap, perfume, lotions, detergents, fabric softener. Make sure you wear cotton underware (avoid thongs and boy shorts!) so that it can breathe. You can get cortisone cream at any pharmacy to help with the swelling, but if it gets worse see your doctor.

Erica, I know you ask for women only but take Mischele's advice. It will also help to sleep without panties on to give that area some air and time to heal.
Please don't let this continue, tell your mom and go see the doctor if Mischele's solution does not help. You may need some antibiotics. Have a merry Christmas.
