My mom is vomiting uncontrollably, does she need medical attention? |
My mom had a root canal on Monday and she's allergic to the medicine they gave to her for the pain. She changed the script but I think she's also having problems with this new medicine because for the last 24 hours she's been vomiting very often (a few times every hour) and is sore to get up. She can't even keep water down and about an hour ago she vomited bile with a bit of dark blood and now just vomited a bit more blood. I want to take her to the ER, but we called the pharmicist first who told us to call the doctor. The doctor said they're changing her scripts and just told her to rest and try to keep fluids down. Even though they said that, she keeps trying to vomit with nothing in her stomach and I think she's having a very big issue. Should I take her to the ER anyway? Also, it's not morning sickness or anything, she can't have children anymore. I would still take her to an ER, because you said she even sore and weak. She's probably exhausted from constantly vomiting. yes she is going to die if you dont YES!! Get her to the ER. vomiting up blood and bile is very bad... get her to ER and they'll get her the medicine by IV... and will also treat her with fluids via an IV, they may also hold her until she's able to hold down fluids on her own. Are you serious???.... call 911 now... I would take her to the ER. Bile/Blood not good. Plus she will run the risk of serrious dehydration. Follow your gut and get her checked out asap! ER, NOW. Take her to the emergency room, or call an ambulance right away. She is losing blood and this is serious. It could have nothing to do with the meds. I would have to say to you... don't listen to the pharmacist or the doctor at this point. Get her to ER NOW!!!!! If she is throwing up blood you might want to call 911 for an ambulance that way she won't have to sit in the waiting room to be seen. If your mom can't keep any liquids down at all for over a few hours Yes, get her to the ER so they can give her meds to stop the vomiting. If she is vomiting continuously they will take her straight back. If there is an urgent care center, call them and see if they will see her or if she should go to the ER. A UC center can be quicker and is definitely cheaper. Good luck. |
