Migraines with Vomiting?

My husband gets terrible migraines about once every 2-3 weeks. He always has chronic vomiting with these episodes. He may vomit (or try to) at least 5 times or so. It usually lasts about a day. He will stay in a dark bedroom with the covers pulled over his head. I feel so bad for him. We have tried using 5HTP, CoQ10, Magnesium, Vitamin E. I don't know what to do for him. He is so miserable. Please Help if you can. Thanks.

Oh, He also takes

Excedrin Migraine

Nausea accompanies certain migraines. My wife was able to manage her (debilitating and nausea) migraines by identifying the triggers...in her case it was cheese and chocolate. She still enjoys these foods, but takes them in moderation now. She hasn't experienced problems with migraines since, and without medications.
To find the triggers, your husband will need to keep a journal of what he is eating to try to correlate it to a potential trigger. At the next doctor visit, have him also checked for wheat allergies...it should be a simple saliva test. Not to say that there is a direct correlation between wheat allergies and migraines, but it's one good thing to rule out since it is so simple.

We have treated 15 & 20 yrs Migrains.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk with sugar at bed time preferably or meals, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.

The darkened room is a good idea, he should have an ice pack on the back of his neck and forehead. make sure your husband is drinking a great deal of water, I recommend purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will help hydrate his body which is becoming dehydrated from the vomiting. It also was going to replace the minerals he is losing. Although there are varying opinions, I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods

if this continues after doing the above he really should see his medical doctor for a complete examination.

Severe migraines are accompanied with nausea and/or vomitting. My mom used to get migraines really bad and had all the same symptoms your husband displays. There are some prescription medications that will help alleviate these symptoms. He should see the doctor about them. I don't remember the names of the medications, but there's one you can take when you feel a migraine coming on to stop it, and then there's one that basically knocks you out so you can sleep off your migraine. Some come in pill forms and some come in the form of a nasal spray. If those medications don't work it could be something neurological. Either way, he should see the doctor.

my son gets the same thing. try to drink gadorade 2 glasses and rest. also run his hands under hot water as hot as he can stand it will help take the blood from his head to his hands it works..

There is a new development in migraine therapy:

I would NOT take excdedrin magraine because it is full of caffeien, and when it wears off you are susceptible to rebound migraine, which sounds like what he might have with the frquency you describe.

The need for dark is because the optic nerves are severely impacted by any migraine/headache chrionic condition.

I have an excellent headache doctor/neurologist, and sounds like you might want to find the same, if you do not have one already.

I am attaching a link to the national headache foundation which might contain some helpful information for you until you get to a new doctor.

Good luck, and sorry for your pain.
You and your husband are NOT ALONE.
