How to avoid vomiting during travelling?

hi , i m suffering from vomiting when travelling especially by bus. even i take avomin tablet i cant avoid it. i dislike the smell of petrol. lemon is also not useful .& if i see more traffic suddenly i vomiting.is there any way to avoid this?

eat less and use head rest

sleeping works for me.if you cant sleep take sleeping pills

Avomine atleast 1/2 hour before travelling.

Crystallized ginger! Even if you don't like the taste, try to eat it anyway. The brand name with the word "Reeds" in it is the best. I am very motion sick and ginger calms my stomach right down. Its the same wisdom as drinking ginger ale, although the actual ginger content in the drink is very minimal. If you are like me, you will acquire a taste for crystallized ginger and find yourself munching on it during every bus trip!

before commencing journey do not eat too much.avoid rear seats and seats just above the wheel.go by auto or taxi driven by diesel if petrol smell is the villain. go by train. if for short distance use cycle. or else walk

Just take a lemon with u.. take a wild breath with the lemon

Always sit in the direction of bus moves. Don't read books. Try to communicate with fellow passengers.

If you have suitable trains, better to travel by train. If bus journey is unavoidable, try the time, nearly two hours later after morning breakfast/ lunch/ evening snacks. After each 1.5 hours journey, take a break, drink water and go to toilet. You can try JAL JEERA (soft lemon drink) also during break.

This is interesting but try. Put a News paper over your seat and sit on it.
Keep chewing Ginger peices
Smelling lemon is good but you dislike it.
Listen to some music while travelling and avoid the feeling of travelling.
Avomin is good but not for daily use.
Ue a handkerchif to cover your ears and mouth, nose , but ensure easy breathing. this helps to avoid unneccassary smells ,cold and dust.
Try to avoid closed buses or ensure enough A/C is on! watch a film on it.

STAY HOME!!!

There is a lot of good advise given in some of these answers. My daughter had travel sickness as a child and still has it in her adolescent years. As a child, we learned to treat her travel sickness with antihistamines or dramamine half an hour before the trip. We also found what worked for her was to keep her eyes focused towards the front view and not to move her head about, as in looking at the traffic or at the sights to the side view of a car, bus or train. Also, definitely reading a book or even writing/coloring should be avoided. It is a good idea to bring small bottle of ginger ale for drinking; and to try the crystallized ginger.

So, what did we have her do during those long trips? We gave her a portable cd player with headphones and she loved listening to her music while staring out straight ahead of her through the front view of the window; her eyes following the road especially during the twists and turns of the road. And now being all grown up, if she's not the driver, she's listening to the rock music of her choice!

One more thing, for anyone who suffers from travel sickness, be prepared for virtual travel sickness if you decide to see the movie "Cloverfield"! My daughter wasn't prepared for it and found her head reeling and her stomach churning. It was the first time she ever walked out of a movie way before it ended.

Here is a website with lots of good info:

Good luck to you!

There are several things you could do. I have the same problem with traveling, same with my older brother but I don't vomit normally. I just get an upset stomach. A couple things that work is bringing a water bottle with cold water and lemon juice. Lemon water can help soothe the stomach as well as water with ginger! It helped me a LOT and you could also try massaging your pulse points on your wrists because it can help calm you down and apparently the blood vessels or vains from pulse points are attached to something in your stomach and help calm you down when ill. Also try talking to people and being with people. When you are by yourself, it only makes it worse! Just don't think about it.

Buses normally use diesel. So I believe you wanted to say smell of diesel. I had this issue in childhood but no more. If you can keep yourself busy without thinking of vomitting, its best. So many people have suggested so many things for that. Choose opposite side of seating side than exhaust. Normally exhaust pipe is on right side in India.Choose front seats and window one. Keep window open (Choose non AC bus) and get some fresh air. Chew some thing and engauge youself in some thing. I like clsoe to driver seat so that I can see traffic moving. Don't read. It keeps your head down which is not gud. I am sure it is not permanent issue. with time and practice, it vanishes.

this is because of polluted air which we inhale and because of the petrol and diesel smelling, so before travelling have plenty of food not half stomach. second thing carry the hankerchief that contains your favourite body spray or perfume spray. sp[ray it in your handkerchief and keep smelling that, it really works.
