I hate my voice?

ok i know this is going to sound so silly, but i hate my voice! It's so deep and horrible, I have always felt abit insecure about it and it makes me hate talking out loud. I was ok until once a fella said to me "you have a weird voice" i sorta laughed it off..but realised it wasn't just me who thought it was horrible. However I also thought perhaps it was just that lad, i mean he was abit weird in general himself. But today I went to see my counsellor (eating disorder/depression), it's only my second time seeing her but she stopped me whilst i was talking and asked me had bulimia affected my voice..it took me a minute to understand what she meant and then I said to her no i have always had a deep voice and she was like aw right ok, but now i am super paranoid about it............it's another thing to add to the list of things i dislike about me!

Think of Kathleen Turner or Katherine Hepburn. Two amazing sirens with the smoky voices. In fact, I also have a voice like yours - or the two sirens - and people have told me that I have a "whiskey voice". Like you, I used to be freaked out by it,. but when you get older and learn how to USE your voice - oh mama!! Men will melt at your feet. I swear, this kind of voice on the phone... I work in sales and believe me, I can sell ANYTHING to a man over the phone!! You just have to grow into it, you learn how to make it work for you - probably like some of the other things I bet you don't like about yourself.

I'd just like to ask who are you comparing yourself to? Why wouldn't you like many things about yourself? I'm guessing that you are still young. Trust me, many, many girls go through what you are going through, but I hope you are strong enough to realise there are so many beautiful things about yourself that you have not even discovered yet. Hang in there young lady.

And remember - you have a beautiful, mysterious, smoky voice.

Be well!!

You shouldn't hate your voice, if you have a bad one, than practice makes perfect, but don't give up hope just practice

I hate my voice too! I think most people do, a lot of my friends have said the same thing but they sound fine. Don't worry about it because even if your voice isn't normal people probably think it's really interesting and love it just the same.

Same thing happened to me when i was a kid if your a grownup then you may need to see a docter, but as a kid it is normal to have an abnormal voice, it is all part of puberty.

u should learn to love urself....only u can find happiness but hte only way is to be ok with urself

Well there's really nothing you can do about it so just keep it cool. When you're talking to people the last thing you need to worry about is your voice.

Thats ok im a boy and sound like a girl!!!
I think god mixed up our voices!!! LOL

I think a deep voice in women can be sexy

I also hate my voice (among many things), too there's nothing you can do really, but I'm sure that guy was just joking.

You will grow into it trust me! A deeper voice on a woman always sounds more seductive.. guys can't get enough! =)

I soooo know how you feel!!!! I sound like an eight year old at 15, and one time this guy I was talking to stopped me and told me that I sounded like a 5 year old!! Now I try to make my voice sound different. I have a list of things I hate about myself too! Oh my gosh....we are like so in the same boat. Ok, well, I hope that you can try to overcome all the bad things. Maybe if you do, I can!

deep raspy voices are cool...look at demi moore, i actually love her voice.

I grew up with a girl whose voice tubes were broken. So her voice always sounded like she had an extreme case of lyragistus. She to this day still sounds like that and theirs nothing she can do to fix it, but people who know you accept you for how you are and their will be a guy that will be understanding of it to. Shes managed to get engaged and have the time of her life with some of the hottest guys out their regardless of her voice. Alittle confidense and self esteem go a long way. If your that concerned about it try going to your doctor because hes the only one who can really tell you whats wrong, it possibly sounds like you dont have enough estrogene in your system, thats hormones for woman, keeps our voices more femine and the guys are the opposite with the deep voices. Regardless of the outcome, have faith in you, your voice may be different then normal but its unquie to you - so you should embrace it fully and work around it.

Wow, you have a lot on you're plate huh? Take one thing at time sweetie. All these dislikes are just manifestations of a common problem. Once you square that away all these dislike will be lifted. You need some self esteem first then everything will follow.

Hey! Everybody has something they don't like about theirselfes but you can get over it. When you first said " i hate my voice" i thought you meant singing! I was going to say me too but my friends say i'm really good... anyway, have you ever tried putting your voice in an higher pitch? it might help?

I'm sorry. I'm trying to be sympathetic because this obviously means a lot to you but it's so trivial. There is so much more important things going on in your life, and the world, and the fact that you have a deep voice is not one of them. David Beckham has a voice like a 8 year old girl. Who cares??? You said it yourself, " I know this sounds silly" and I'm sorry, but it does. Concentrate on the more important things in your life.

There are other things that can affect the voice, including thyroid problems.

If there is nothing physical and you're not bulimic, I suggest singing lessons. You'll learn what a powerful tool your voice is and you'll love it no matter how deep or high it is.

Honeslty darlin, this world offers soooo many more important challenges than our voices. I understand that it bothers you, but look on the bright side, my voices is so high pitched that if i get excited poeple cringe :( Try to brush it off for now and if when your MUCH older its still something that you honestly can't live with, there are surgeries nowadays wherein doctors can alter your voice-box, but remember, going under the knife has its consequences and should only be used as a last resort..... cheer up.

Love yourself. Anyone who isn't willing to accept all of who you are, isn't worth any part of your time. The hardest things for people to do are sometimes simplest (like not automatically judging people). On the path to light, you will go through greater darkness. Stay up!

cheer up girl i dont like my voice at all its kinda boyish sounding but thats who we are... learn to like it thats what i did. Focus on the good qualites you have. Mine is my butt I get compliments on that. Focus on your compliments whether it be pyshical or mental, or emotional. There is not one perfect person out there. Superstars do have flaws!!

me too,i hate my voice, sounds awful
