Anxiety/Panic Attacks? |
Someone on prozac medication (10mL) for clinical depression, still has anxiety and panic disorders, as well seems to be "hearing" voices and seeing things, mind is racing a lot to, can't seem to fall asleep doctor gave prozac though You probably meant 10mg instead of 10mL. If so, you are on a low dose of Prozac, and it can take several weeks for it to kick in anyway. see dr. sounds like a case of schizophrenia. There are medications for this condition and Prozac isn't the right one. There are also other medications for depression w/ anxiety like effexor. This person needs to be seen by someone who understands mental health medications. Not a GP but a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Tell them to go back to their doctor and explain what you just told us here. There are many meds out there to treat these symptoms and if one isn't working they should try another. well it's typical for the medications to not work. it's simply running away from the problem and sometimes has little to no affect on the person. your friend should get off these drugs. i knew someone who went on these type of medications and she went temporarily crazy. (it was while she was on them). your friend needs to find a good guidance councilor. you need to be there for him/her. talk to them. this could be very serious. Well you have the right person here to give advice on this subject I have had panic attacks for 10 years but they are under control with the use of xanx. I cannot take anti-depressants they cause me to go right into one panic attack on top of another. The side effects to anti-depressants are anxiety panic attacks. Paxil was the worse, I seen two of me and had unwanted thoughts like I wanted to kill someone but I would never hurt anyone, I took all of my knives and put them in the garage, and I heard voices as well and I also seen things that were not their and felt like I was dreaming all the time or dying. I would say it is the medication I would talk to the doctor about tranqulizers, and goto counseling, at one point I could not even leave my house for a year, I had tried every anti-depressant their is and always the same effect more panic attacks if you need to talk you have my e-mail address I have helped many people who have panic attacks and gave a lecture on them at our mental health clinic and have done a great deal of research. If you feel like your crazy your not I take it that this someone might be you? Please don't be ashamed. I have many mental issues and I am not bothered by the stigma that is placed on people anymore. If you watch TV you will find that Mental Illness is more respected these days. Well it seems like you need to investigate neurofeedback therapy. It is a safe and effective alternative that is becoming very popular. Do the research on the internet, keywords "neurofeedback and anxiety". It is done through the use of EEG, which is used in hospitals everywhere but now has gone more mainstream. It can help to take away all of your panic and anxiety to the point where you may not need conventional medicine anymore. Check out my website for more info also. Welcome to the wonderful side effects of Prozac the doctor may not tell you about! One of the first antidepressents I was put on was Prozac! It's like a private joke the pharmaceutical companies have by dolling out these lovely pills! I'm not paranoid, but sure felt a little more than anxious and depressed on those babies! I saw stuff too, had night terrors, and felt like my anxiety tenfolded! Fun drug, yeh. If I had opted for a bad trip, I would have copped some LSD, right? Go make another appt. to your (Quack), I mean Dr., and get something else! Have you tried Lexipro or Paxil? I took Lexipro and I liked it, but Paxil does the full monty for me!...The side effect of seeing stuff wasn't on my prescription sheet. So, when I told my cracker jack educated dr. about it, she said,""Oh, I've heard it can do that." WHAT?? Thanks for the heads up on that one dill hole! Change your hallucination in a pill as fast as you can. Sometimes you can do it over the phone after you explain...that'll save you an office visit!!!!! as a fellow panic disorder person....you need to see a psychiatrist/psychologist. A general doctor is not informed enough to diagnose with those symptoms. |
