Is there a cure for spasdomic dysphonia? |
I think I have this disorder beacuse I read up on it I seem to have all the symptoms. Anyone who has this disorder knows they have trouble communicating in their everyday life. I started to notice I cant yell, my voice sounds good one day then another day it sounds horrible. People tell me it sounds whispery. It cracks a lot. They say I mumble alot. I guess you can say Iv'e adapted but theres so many things I cant do because of this disorder. I was in the military and I struggled so much because theres a lot of yelling here. Iv'e even thought of getting a microphone to do things that require communication. I would appreciate some feedback. There is no cure yet...depending on your type of SD, botox injections might help. It also sounds like you have a history of vocal abuse. You should see an ENT to make sure there isn't anything organically wrong. A speech-language pathologist can then help you with possible voice treatment. At this time, there is no cure for SD, but treatments are available. Research continues to better understand the cause(s) of SD. |
