Why do I lose my voice so easy?

Ever since I was in high school I have a tendency to lose my voice very easily. I really noticed it in college after big parties but now that I'm 24 it's still a problem. Earlier this year, I went with friends on a 7 day cruise to Alaska and by day 4 I was voiceless. I'm going to Arizona in March with friends to baseball spring training and I want to be able to get rowdy and have a good time. I have never smoked but I do drink which is probably a contributing factor to these bouts of laryngitis.

Do I just have weak vocal cords? Any solutions?

I lose my voice often also.
There are a couple reasons I have had an ENT tell me this happens.
First stressing the voice box can cause it.
Stress in your life can cause it. Acid in your throat.
Finally allergies are another common cause for voice loss.

Hope this helps. An ENT can probably let you know the exact reason for your loss though.

do you do most of the talking and screaming in fun with friends..I have a friend that is like that and he looses his voice too.

do u talk to much
i dont

maybe its not how much you use your voice but the WAY you use your voice cant scream for 5 days and expect to scream for much longer..

I think you should go to the doctor and see what he will tell you or you probably sick.

ask doctor they claim Arizona is good for that but i can not tell.

I would consult with either a voice teacher or an otolaryngologist. I take singing lessons, and my teacher has taught me techniques for projecting my voice without damaging it, etc. I couldn't begin to suggest a diagnosis for you.

I had same thing, I found out I had vocal polyps....I had them removed, before the surgery I sounded like Rod Stewart, and that was on a good day....good luck, it is not a big deal at all, also I used to talk all the time....actually still do, but I was a cheerleader and would scream my pom-poms off all the time.

Sounds silly but when you are taking a shower to go out talk softly to yourself to warm up your vocal cords. They are like muscles that need warm up like anything else. Even if you only use meaningless phrases like mememimi...

It's possible it runs through your family or you might shout to much if not ask your doctor and I'm sorry to hear about that it must stink to to be able to talk most of the time

MAYBE YOU DOING SOMTHING YOU GO GIRL BUT I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING I WISH BUT I WONT EVEN GIVE MY FRIEND NOTHING HI,HI ,LOL

possible causes....sinusitis or allergies....see an ENT (ear, nose throat) specialist....to rule out anything more serious also....good luck.

Do you use a cell phone and are on it all the time? Do you monopolize conversations? Do you speak loudly when you talk to people? These could all attribute to voice weakness. You might want to really look at what you do for a week and evaluate how much talking you actually do, then make some changes. If not see an otolaryngologist to evaluate your problem.

You need more protein. Call me, we'll work something out ;D.

indeed you have a problem in the vocal cords, my advise to ask your E.N.T. doctor.
