Vitiligo??? Spreadable?

Sorry but some may think this is a stupid question or whatever, but i have a friend that's hands are really pale on the palms and everywhere except the back of the hand. I looked up vitiligo on wiki but i did not find anything on it being spreadable. I was just wondering if anyone can find if it is spreadable. He MIGHT be taking medications for it but i'm not sure because his hands kind of smell wierd (NO I DID NOT PUT MY NOSE ON HIS FACE >:O ). and his hands kinda feels dry. if this isn't really vitiligo just say so and thanks

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder, which means that the body is attacking itself, in this case it is attacking the melanocytes that produce pigment in the skin. Its not really understood why this happens but it is clearly not a spreadable or contagious disease. It is believed to have genetic and environmental causes.

It is NOT contagious. And it's not a stupid question, you just should have asked him.

There is no cure for vitiligo. The goal of treatment is to stop or slow the progression of depigmentation and, if you desire, attempt to return some color to your skin.
