Is vitiligo caused by stress? |
It said in this website that emotional stress is one of causes of vitiligo. I have been extremely depressed living away from home and my vitiligo started showing up in the past 6 months. I was told that vitiligo was genetic but if it is caused by stress, it would explain everything. Hopefully it is not b/c it would be my own fault. http://www.niams.nih.gov/hi/topics/vitil... I have it also. My DR. said the same thing to me in 1972. I was given pills and prescribed alot of sun and tanning lights in the winter. IT didnt work. Later in life I was told there is no cure> stay out of the sun OR keep the infected areas out of the sun. This works best. As I just advised another type into your search engines vitilago cures. It'll take you to several websites that explain causes and cures. Dont believe everything you read. I bought some meds that didnt work. They told me sorry it doesnt work on everybody. last part was funny Report It its not your fault, its often inherited but that isnt your fault, my grandfather had it, thankfully i dont. i cant see how stress can possibly cause it. The cause is not known. Vitiligo may be an autoimmune disease. These diseases happen when your immune system mistakenly attacks some part of your own body. In vitiligo, the immune system may destroy the melanocytes (cells located in the bottom layer of the skin's epidermis and in the middle layer of the eye, the uvea.) It is also possible that one or more genes may make a person more likely to get the disorder. |
