Last month I noticed strange whitness in my lip area, I thought it was either inflmmation or that I have just started using electric toothbrush recently. anyway.. saw my doc.. he said its most likely vitiligo.. I am so down and bummed.. 3 years ago i had alopecia ariata, a small patch that they fixed with cortisone injection and cream for a short time.. whats happening with me.. Can anyone suggest something? hope, idea, My doc said, no treatment for it.. any suggestions?

Guys, thank you very much for your response.. It was really informative and good to read..

Looks like you are developing auto-immune diseases, which are triggered by stressful situations in part.
Vitiligo, thyroid problems, alopecia, artritis, lupus and a few more are all autoimmune disorders.

inappropriate immune response against its own tissues. Sometimes the immune system will cease to recognize one or more of the body鈥檚 normal constituents as 鈥渟elf鈥?and will create autoantibodies 鈥?antibodies that attack its own cells, tissues, and/or organs. This causes inflammation and damage and it leads to autoimmune disorders.

The cause of autoimmune diseases is unknown, but it appears that there is an inherited predisposition to develop autoimmune disease in many cases. In a few types of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatic fever), a bacteria or virus triggers an immune response, and the antibodies or T-cells attack normal cells because they have some part of their structure that resembles a part of the structure of the infecting microorganism.

First and foremost, learn about them, do some research on the web. Then, learn to manage your stress, and eat healthy. Sleep for at least 8 hours a night, get involved in recreational activities, do sports, take flaxseed supplements (it helped me stabilize my thyroid levels).
As for vitiligo, several methods of treatment with varying success rates are currently in use. Some doctors prescribe topical medications and/or ointments with or without corticosteriods. A treatment frequently used is the application or ingestion of a drug (psoralens) followed by exposure to ultra-violet light (sun light). This combined treatment is known as PUVA or PUVB. It is reported that these treatments result in limited success (only 61% of patients achieve more than 25% repigmentation). Even in patients who have a good response to medical treatment methods, the hands, fingers, feet, and ankles and penis frequently do not repigment.

Find a doctor who specializies in autoimmune diseases and let him guide you.

seems like you are under great amount of stress constantly. Try to relax a little bit. If you can take meditation classes or counseling. alopecia, vitiligo.... these are all stress related.

My friend found out she was getting some Vitiligo spots and the Dermatologist treated her with some sort of Lasers to stop it from spreading on her face. BUT, like AMBER D mentioned above, you are better off to consult with more specialist to see what could be the appropriate treatment for you. RELAX, I did got into very bad phase of stress myself 2 years ago and I got bald spots in my head, Was it worth it??? No. Getting stress resolve the situations? No. So take it easy and take care of yourself, nothing is more important than your health. By the way, my hair grew back by itself once I started to worry less. Good luck!
