Is Vitiligo hereditary? |
my paternal grandfather and maternal uncle both have vitiligo. My grandfather's color changed almost completely, but my uncle is still patchy after 20 years. Why? Is there medication that helps one change completely instead of going through the patchy stage for too long. yes it is and there is no real cure except for some very expensive and costly light treatments. I have it, but for me it is patchy and I am so fair skinned that I would never consider treating if. I heard the light treatments are successful on dark skinned people i have vitiligo. but no one in my family has it. from my grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, bros, sis, cousins, uncles, aunties.. they all dont have vitiligo. Report It The treatment for advanced Vitiligo is Retin A cream in a prescription strength. It helps in bleaching the dark areas, but it can be irritating to the skin. |
