Answer! About vitiligo!!!!!?

My dad and his sister have vitiligo. But i dont. is there a good chance that my kids could get it?

You have a 50% less chance because you only have 1/2 of his genes. The other 1/2 comes from our mom. Your kids have a 25% chance of getting it statistically speaking. But I think it is even less because I think both parents need to be carriers.

It is possible that you and your kids could vertigo. Its possible for anyone to get it. It is usually caused by a drop in blood pressure or other underline medical problem.

There would seem to be a family connection if both your dad and his sister have it. This is what I found ...

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder in which a person's immune system attacks it own melanocytes (cells that produce the pigment in our skin), causing symmetrical patchy whitening of the skin. It is associated with other autoimmune conditions including scleroderma, type 1 diabetes mellitus, autoimmune adrenal insufficiency, Hashimoto's thyroiditis etc. Inheritance patterns of these diseases are complex, and there is not sure way of telling if the offspring of a patient will be afflicted with the disorder. However, it is clear that family members of a patient hav a slightly higher risk of being afflicted, especially among first degree relatives.
