Vegan taking vitamins!?

I am thinking about becoming a vegan and I have heard a lot about how if you dont eat the right foods you will be mal nourished. I have researched and found out you have to get vitamin b12, iron, and a lot of other vitamins. If I take a centrum vitamin every day and on the back it says it has 100% DV for all the vitamins I need then doesnt that mean I dont have to worry about getting the right vitamins from foods that I eat? Even though if I become a vegan I am not just going to eat chips and soda all day I will eat really healthy.

You may want to find a vitmain that is speciffically made for vegans.
Most medicine capsules are made with gelatin(boiled animal bones) and some vitamins may use vitamin a(retinol) and vitamin d-3 which are animal derived.i take multivitamins "just in case".Vitamins are meant to supplement a healthy diet, not replace,so eating healthy is also important. The last answer I gave you had the basic stuff you need. You can check out
http://www.pcrm.org/ and look at the four food groups for vegans, you can also order a free vegan starter kit from there(it may have different info than the goveg kit). That website is really halpful for vegans.Exercise is also very bebnificial.I go to the gym mon, tues, thurs, and friday.I usually take a multivitamin before i go to the gym in the morning. If you don't want to take a pill for b-12 you can buy a patch(http://www.b12patch.com/)
or you can have soymilk fortified with b-12 or you can put nutritonal yeast(cheesy like flavor) on foods like popcorn or whatever.I would recommend taking the multivitamin.

You can get everything you need from nature-no vitamins necessary. Even animals dont produce B12 themselves. They get it from the grains they are fed. Try adding nutritional yeast (not brewers yeast or bakers yeast) to your diet, It is loaded with B vitamins, including 12, and is high in protein. It is grown on blackstrap molasses. It is safe for people on anti candida diets. If you eat a variety of whole grains, such as quinoa, rice, millet, etc. and leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, you will get all the nutrition you need to thrive. Good luck to you-its a great way of life!
