Does pornography really lead to sexual violence? |
Seriously. Have there been any real studies confirming this? No, I don't want preachy people quoting the bible. Just scientific evidence. Or, what's your opinion. I think it's ridiculous. I feel it is true. If you do some looking in to it you will see the what worked last week will not work this week. You need harder stuff. No. Mentally ill-minded people who use pornography as an excuse are the reasons sexual violence occur often than usual. i'm pretty sure only hardcore/rape porn could "lead to" sexual violence ("lead to" = foreplay)...usually only for individuals that are already drawn to that kind of thing...viewing that sort of porn can desensitize men (or women) to the pain of another human being...sure some in that group can view it and never get physical, it's just that it's such a fine line between fantasy/reality, that some ppl are not cut out to distinguish between the two. Well, Ted Bundy said he got his start by reading porno mags and "true detective" mags. That's documented in his biography. No, porn does not lead to sexual violence, violent people lead to sexual violence. As a woman, I know that I should feel appalled and disgusted with the portrayal of women in the sex industry, but I really don't. These are adults who have made the decision to display themselves for all the world to see. I do how ever feel that a steady diet of porn can de-sensitize a person to the beauty of sex. The Supreme Court made a landmark first amendment decision on this premise stating, "[l]ocation of adult entertainment land uses in proximity to residential uses, churches, parks and other public facilities, and schools, may lead to increased levels of criminal activities, including prostitution, rape, incest and assaults in the vicinity of such adult entertainment land uses." While it has been held that there are harmful, demonstrable secondary effects of public porno theatres, I would have no idea about your average run of the mill spank magazine. I don't think pornography leads to sexual violence. It is the people that don't know the difference between fantasy and reality that have the problem. I don't know of any actual studies taken. This is just my opinion. |
