I often get scared of violence in films. I'm 12 and my mom thinks I'm nuts. How can I get rid of this problem?

Mom's wrong on this one. Violent and horror films are supposed to get you scared , that's why they make them. The films they make today are ultra-violent and really should only be watched by adults that have the stomach for it - they are clearly not suitable for kids.
If it makes you feel better, I'm 53 and i don't watch them either, I think that they are the work of very disturbed individuals and that disturbs me.

Don't watch violent films. If you don't like them.

You get rid of this problem by telling your mom that 12 year olds should not be exposed to violence!!!!!
That is why they have ratings on films. Refuse to see anything but G and an occasional PG film! You should not be exposed to material that is not age appropriate and you are not nuts!
And GO TO BED!

What exactly do you do when you're 'scared'??

If it's real gory stuff and you turn away and cover your eyes,that's normal,but in any case you're not 'nuts' like your mom thinks.

Just realize that real life is more scary than what Hollywood would conjure up!

Don't watch violent films if they make you scared. Or if you want to watch the movie, move your head when the scary parts come on so you don't see them (or use that time to visit the bathroom or even kitchen)

Keep in mind that it isn't real... it's just a movie with a plot... it's not happening to the people for real...

There's nothing wrong with being disturbed by all the violence in movies. That's one of our society's problems: people get too desensitized by all the violence they see in films and on TV.

It is common that we often get scared looking at violence.what u can do is before watching film or if Ur expecting an action sequence u prepare ur mind that it is just the film ur watching and nothing reality.Tell ur mind again and again it is just fake be strong.U will get rid of it soon

avoid them...if u cant bear it!!!
