Is it true low income families and bad diet lead to violence?

Is it true low income families and bad diet lead to violence?

I think you are simplifying things too much.

I gues sit is true that a large portion of violent crimes and of violence is perpetrated by people from lower income groups. I guess things like theft make more sense if you have less and you need to do something to eat.

But that doesn't mean that every poor person is a thief or is violent; neither does it mean that more poor people are violent than rich people. Rich people also steal, and do cirmes; may be a different sort of crime. For example there is a rise in white collar crime across the world. You can swindle millions and be jailed for 6 months, but get a couple of years for stealing a purse. Now while the person holding the purse could resist, the same person would be able to do nothing if her bank account was being raided without her knowledge. Which would you say causes more damage?

Secondly, as the saying goes, we are what we eat. Especially nowadays where most meat comes from industrially reared animals, complete with antibiotics and so on, the diet food we eat does affect our behaviour. It has been argued that meat eaters tended to be more aggressive than vegetarians; I am not sure about that. However, I guess it is more likely to be true nowadays with all the stuff that gets packed into the meat.

I would say that diets rich in meat are mre likely to cause people to be more aggressive. But I am not sure that that is what you meant by 'bad diet'.

Bottomline:
1 People from different social backgrounds commit different types of crime.
2 Not all 'low income' people are likely to commit crimes, just like 'high income' people;
the values people have also play a role.
3 Meat rich diets tend to make people more aggressive, even if it's only through the extra ingredients in the meat such as animal antibiotics and so on...

So, at the extremes, if you are a huge meat eater that doesn't value other people's property of life, then you are more likely to commit violence, whether physical or mental than a vegetarian who values peace.

early death more like!

Yes low income family's would rather buy a box of tabs/bottle of cider than some good quality food.

It just depends on the type of person you are. There are rich and healthy psychopaths.

Low income families often have a bad diet because they don't have money to buy anything healthier. Pasta, Top Ramen, rice and macaroni are cheap.

The stress of being poor and wondering if you have enough cheap food to feed your family is stress inducing. Stress often leads to domestic violence. Poverty often leads to crime.

i dont think a bad diet will lead to violence but a low income would play a part in that eg,u gotta do wat u gotta do to survive in this world,im talking from my own experiance anway i dunno wat others might say but iv done some things in the past violent and crime only to get by though coz some ppl have no other choice but to do things to feed there family u know,as i say u gotta do wat u gotta do to survive may be bad in many ppls eyes but very true!!!!!!!!1

Not sure about this one, have you seen any statistics on it? I don't think bad diet leads to violence, and I know that violence sure is not limited to low income families.

george bush came from a wealthy family, and blair and they are crazy. look at the violence they have caused

sounds good to me

you must come from a well-to-do family to ask this question...how absurd!!! many things can lead to violence... im sure those things make life hard, in fact, ive survived both, and survived violence...but i think it was more related to the alcoholism and drug abuse i was subjected to...anyway, a person can come from a well rounded home, and still become violent...sometimes its chemical, as in the brain...

Excuse me! I was one of those " low income " families you refer to and I can assure you that my four son's were fed a proper diet and were brought up properly. We are not all ' junkies and drunks' and go around looking to cause trouble. So no it is
Not True at all.

No, I think its the other way round, criminal/violent people dont have the social skills to get a job so they dont work and have a poor diet due to the low income and lack of education.
