What happen to 61 children in sri lanka? why killed?

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Tuesday said that the bombing on Monday of a Vallipunam Sencholai compound in Mullaithivu district that reportedly killed dozens of girls and wounded many more is a "shocking result of the rising violence," in Sri Lanka and called on all parties to respect international humanitarian law and ensure children and the places where they live, study and play are protected from harm. "These children are innocent victims of violence," said Ann M. Veneman, UNICEF Executive Director

There is still some clarification that is needed to know whether these really were regular children or "child fighters" deployed by the LTTE terrorist organization that is fighting the Sri Lankan government.


Not that it's an excuse to kill children, but the govt intelligence had pointed to a terrorist camp, in which case the SL govt only bombed because they had intelligence stating that there were terrorists there.

The LTTE terrorists should be held responsible for recruiting and putting children in the face of danger.
