Violent daydreams?

I posted this in the psychology category, but am also going to post it here, simply because I'm not entirely sure where it belongs!

I'm interested, how abnormal - if at all - are reccurring violent daydreams?

Not neccessarily daydreaming about random acts of violence, but about being a hero or saving people you care about from bad people, always involving physical violence, often involving weapons, and occuring several times a day.

For a 17 year old female from a reasonably affluent family.

I'm guessing daydreaming about being a hero and saving friends, family and colleges is reasonably normal, but is it usual or healthy for daydreams to involve violence (up to the death of the 'baddie', if ya like!).

Wow, good question.

For a 17 year old, hard to say.

I know I have thought about these things, and I imagine a lot of people have thought about these things. But thinking about them is probably normal.

It could be your mind is very creative and there is also an emotional need deep within that is not fulfilled. These two things combined cause you to daydream about this.

There may be underlying issues that only someone you are working with can help you solve.

To daydream about the death of the bad man that is normal. Why not? It is human history that the baddie always dies. Even in the movies. Look around you, most people say, do as I say not as I do. Movies, History.

Young Lady, you are probably more normal than most people. However the normalcy ends when the actual desire to have this happen and you go about working to make this happen so you can actually accomplish it begins.

The military, the police, the firefighters are full of people who do this on a daily basis. That is their job and they are trained to do these things. They use scenarios (someone's daydream) to plan for the unthinkable. This is how they become better and better.

Check into a career in one of these fields.

I see nothing wrong with your daydreams if you don't act on them. If you feel that you need to act on them you might want to get some help.

she's going crazy

This happens to me soetimes and no i dont thinks its unhealthy or dangerous.

Hmm, I don't know. My violent "daydreams" were always ones where I (or someone I loved) was being murdered or something and there was no escape. I don't see too much of a problem with your daydreams 鈥?they seem healthier than mine 鈥?but if you would like to stop them, here is how I stopped mine.

I had to think back to when they first started and what was going on at that time. I realized that something really traumatic had happened right at that time, and was probably a big source for those images that would come frequently, randomly, and uncontrolably. Once I realized that this particular event had caused so many problems for me, I faced the problem mentally, and said, yeah, it's okay that that really scared me, but why should I let something that happened so long ago still affect me every day? It almost immediately stopped and has happened only a handful of times since. Good luck!

ummm do you read alot of comic books 'er something? No nothing wrong with that. But yes it is weird.

Well, I have daydreams like that too, although I'm 15 and I'm not sure if it is normal. If it doesn't affect your normal life, I'd say it's okay. Here where I live, there's this gang of crack users that are really skinny and weak, and they keep threatening my dad, but my dad's not scared of them. He will go out and fight them 1 on 1, as they are so cowardly as to fight in groups, in other words, pile up on one person, a 3 on 1. I have daydreams that I walk out the door at night, all dressed up in black, with a big metal pipe in my hands. I find the drug house where they are buying crack, then I beat the living hell out of them and I call the cops. The cops come and arrest them and my family gets $3000 from Victim Services. I also had an actual dream of doing so, but it was beating another crack user, actually, the biggest crack user in town. I also have daydreams of (sorry if this grosses you out) pissing in his gas tank and dropping sugar into it, which would wreck his motor. I don't know why, and I'm sorry if I bore you, but I just wanted to share that with someone. What my point is, I think that heroic daydreams are normal, but I'm not 100% sure. Feels okay, and it doesn't interfere with my life.

Your as normal as any teenage girl is. You just have a good imagination is all. ANd you know how to use it. As long as they don't become reality don't see nothing wrong with it. Been a hero is cool and getting rid of the bad guys is fun. SO enjoy it.

I think Your just mad about somthing. but just dont know what it is, I suggest compleat focas on what you like the best, Movies are mine, one after anyother, all day if need be. non active self indulgets, Relax and enjoy somone elses good time. if thoughts are good they cant be bad ,right.
