Is this normal for someone with depression, or is it a different problem?

I am obsessed with violence and death. The only TV programs that catch my eye are the ones about murder, or things that have a lot of violence in them. It's the same with books and movies. I think I like these things because they make me feel like I have power. Especially when a weaker thing is being taken over. I don't generally hurt things, though I get angry at small things.
Is this yet another symptom of my depression or something else?
thanks for any answers

I already go to a therapist.
I am only 14. I think I'm on a bad road.=(

You need to seek professional help for that question. Get counseling.

it is a little bit of depression.. but if some thing bad happened to you in a way and thats why you like to see people taken over... sounds like your mad or angrey.. or you want control.. it is a little bit of depression..

This sounds like something else, ask your doctor.

please visit a counsellor or best, a psychiatrist for assistance. it's absolutely essential. i have similar issues and only knew how serious it actually is after the counsellor guide me through my problems. YOU NEED TO SEE A COUNSELLOR.

also, read up the book by David. D Burns titled Feeling Good, its a well known and highly recommended book for depressed souls.

good luck to you and all the best in your future

Depression is not one thing. It is just an attempt to describe what there is in common between a lot of people who don't feel good. The way YOU experience the depression-type feelings you have is unique to you. For you, the obsession with violence and death is part of your individual suffering. The endless labels just make everything look as if they are different problems - they're not, there is one you, with your particular complex problem, unique to you.

I'm struck by how insightful you are in recognising that what you get out of it is a feeling of power, when usually you feel powerless. This suggests that you could make good use of psychotherapy. Any chance you could do that?

EDIT: if you're already seeing a therapist, please talk to them about all this. You are NOT on a bad road, I promise. Your self-awareness and self-honesty will enable you to be on a very good road. We ALL have strange thoughts and violence in thought is a totally different thing from violence that is acted out. If you are able to make the choice not to be violent, there is nothing to fear.

Have you tried ATVs they are good off road vehicles. If you have email I will send a poem.
