Vertigo advice?

my mother got dizzy all of a sudden, and she cant move her neck. She recovered after a day of rest and the doctor says its called vertigo. what dos he mean by it and what medication shall we use? my mother eperience another vertigo just this morning, after 2 months since the first one, what shall we do? please help..

Vertigo is motion sickness. It may be a symptom of something else, though. I think I would try another doctor. Has she had any blood work done?

Very common. If it continues your doctor can give her the same medication as is in Dramamine. Most vertigoes are caused by an imbalance in the ear. An infection, sinusitis, ear injury... even a jaw that clicks(TMJ) can cause the ear to go off balance and fluid to occur.

If the doctor feels it isnt major, that it is not heart related... I would try the meclazine.(Dramamine).

Another cause of vertigo is that the current medication taken is too high a dosage. Check thyroid meds, heart meds, even too many vitamins.

Ear infections (e.g., otitis media, labyrinthitis) caused by bacteria may be treated using antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, ceftriaxone).

Lastly, check teeth. They can abcus and cause dizziness.

Keep a journal.
Reduce salt
Reduce caffeine
make sure that a cell phone or something is available for emergencies, especially if they are older.
