Headaches and vertigo?

Recently I've been suffering from vertigo on top of some headache symptoms.

When my latest bout of vertigo vanished after about 20minutes, I felt sharp pain centralized in a very small region on the back right of my head. It felt like I had a needle in my head. It gave way to a numb tingling sensation.

The vertigo comes on without warning, like a sudden jarring as if I'm suddenly falling. This latest bout felt as though I fell forward to the left, then for the next 20 minutes it felt like I was leaning sideways to the right. It usually hits when I'm sitting or standing still, not when I'm moving around.

Lately it's been happening more frequently, which has got me worried. During the summer I experienced extremely bad vertigo several times. I felt like the room was spinning and it wouldn't stop for hours. It made me nauseous enough I had to stay in the bathroom, vomitting from it.

I've been to several doctors about these problems, none have been willing to do real tests.

It's not an ear problem. I've had that checked.

I got smacked on the head back when I was in grade 7 (almost 25 years old now) and that was the start of my bad headaches. They left after I had rhinoplasty surgery, but were replaced with a different kind of headache.

The vertigo started this year.

How can I get better tests? Canada is public healthcare so unless I go to the US I can't pay for tests myself. I have to take what the doctors provide here, but right now I wouldn't have the funds to pay for the tests in the US.

Where do you live?? That's crazy Dr.'s won't do tests.What it is almost unbelieveable. Besides it's not up to them ..If you are suffering you need to demand tests. I am a life long sufferer of migraine headaches and was having 5-7 hour episodes of vertigo with tinitus and vomitting last year. A new symptom for me. Before I tell you anything else you need to schedule an MRI. I went to an ENT who put me through the ringer for tests. MRI , cat scan (for sinus)audiology test, and ENG..for hearing and balance. GEt your self tested..Even for the headaches alone Dr. should give you an MRI. Go to a nuerologist or an ENT if your primary won't do it. O.k. I'm sure you've heard of Meniere's Disease but they ususally don't look at that if you are not haveing hearing related issues. You could be having simply a migrane episode with an unusual symptom of vertigo. Migraine occurs on one side of the brain..Mine are also accompanied by numbness and tingling but usually up my arms and 1 side of my face. My headaches will switch from time to time in terms of sides of head and at time my front of head will feel it more ..or other times my neck and based of skull. What worries me is if your pain is always in an exact localized area. I mean I almost feel like you kidding that no one wants to test you! Perhaps I am spoiled living in the Boston area but..//At the very least If it's simply headache they make medicine to ease pain for that. It can be a diet /anxiety thing or something a physical therapist can help if it is due to past injury. (I was also sent to a P. Therapsit for neck issues that could be causing vert.)But you need to get tested before you can get help. I /please i don't mean to sound angry..(How many time have i said get testes?) I 'm not directing it toward you. I Just understand the suffering, anxiety( When is the next one coming..and when is this going to end) It's takes days out of your month freaks you out and sometimes the pain can be torturous. I feel for you and I know you can get help so I am on your side and behind you when you call your DR. And demand an MRI..to start! Best of health and good luck

Sounds like you need to see a neurologist immediately. I dont know if you are in America or Canada, but if you are a Canadian who has to wait for tests and appointments, I would drive across the border and go to an emergency room in the U.S.
Have you ever had an MRI of the brain?
Vertigo can be chronic, but it should not be this debilitating as you are describing..you need a neurologist.
