Vertigo when standing up? |
For the past 6 weeks I have been experiencing brief periods of vertigo on a daily basis. The vertigo lasts 1-2 seconds and occurs when I am standing. I have also noticed recently that when I bend over, I have a burning sensation in my nose like I've just inhaled water. Hello, Start with your family doc - you may need an ENT or a Neuro...but I can't see you!!! So start with your regular doc. If you don't have one and can't get in with one ASAP, then go to a doc in the box. Don't worry about what anyone may tell you - just go! This has been going on too long! Good Luck!! It is very possible that the two things you describe can be related. The ear, nose and throat are all connected via sinus pathways. What you describe could be caused by an infection, but it could also be caused by body changes such as rapid weight loss. You can see an internal medicine doctor who is a general practitioner, but an ear, nose and throat doctor would specialize in the areas you describe. I would start out with you family doctor and get some tests to rule out infection of the inner ear. Let your doctor recommend a specialist. Firstly, see you doctor! They could be related if you have a serious sinus infection. You would need to see an ENT doctor (Ear,Nose,Throat) because I suspect that may be what's going on. Otherwise, you need to keep a check on your blood pressure to see that it is staying within normal range(s). the standing up vertigo is a well known phenomenen called 'postural hypotension' ,no idea what the nose stuff is probably the vertigo you experience is actually light headedness. vertigo is technically the illusion of motion, and is usually inner-ear related. if it is light headedness, it could be anemia, dehydration, or medication related. try checking your blood pressure laying and then standing after a couple minutes. a drop of 20 sbp would classify as having orthostatic hypotension (basically meaning you are dehydrated or hypovolemic). have your doc check your basic labs (cbc, chemistries). |
