Vertigo....has anyone had it??

I had Vertigo about a year ago and have had no symptons since. This morning, while working out I got an enormous head-spin to the point where I couldn't get up or do anything. Within 2-3 minutes I felt like I was going to vommit. It is about 4 hours later and I still feel a bit out of sorts. Has anyone had Vertigo and did you have any symptons after your initial diagnosis?

I had what is called benign positional vertigo in which when I would get up in the morning I would get the spins real bad for a couple minutes and then go away. I would fill slightly dizzy the rest of the day but would only get the spins after laying down and getting up.
I guess it happens when a small bone in your middle gets stuck. There are certain exercises you can do to help loosen the bone, and sometimes it lasts for a week or so. I am told that it can come back as I have had it about 3 times in the last 8 years.
I did not get sick to my stomach, but I guess most people do. If that is the case, the Dr. will prescribe Antivert or a motion sickness drug.

I had a bad case of vertigo when I came down with a very severe case of the flu. I was taking a break outside of the office and suddenly felt my head spin and had the sensation that the ground under my feet was shaking. I had to grab on to a marble column to keep from losing my balance and the experience was very frightening and uncomfortable because I felt naucious afterwards. I left the office to go home because I knew I had gotten sick, but the ride home on the subway was no more pleasant because I was very disoriented and dizzy.

Incidence and Prevalence

What caused it? cold water in your ears? if your feeling sick, see the doctor.

I had it on and off for months. I avoided smoke filled areas and that helped some and whenever I went to the dentist or on a long ride I took Antivert. I found out years later that the vertigo was probably a symptom of hypothyroidism for me. Since I've been on thyroid meds for over 5 years I haven't had an attack again.

i had bad vertigo after a flu case.
it's called labyrinthitis (spelling :s)
it lasted a few months on and off. when i had it it was hell! the world spun around me like crazy, i flt nauseous as hell and couldn't do anything without holding on to something.
