Vertigo / Dizzy spells. What are possible causes?

A friend of mine has been having these dizzy spells for a few months and they are getting worse. She's been to several doctors, seen an ear nose & throat specialist, been poked and probed and mistreated, and they still don't know what is causing the illness. She has also been scanned for brain cancer and she's completely clean. Great health, diet, and she exercises regularly. Is there anything else that could possibly cause this vertigo?

Get a copy of the MRI and all other tests. Dr.'s don't always give you all the results. Some findings are textbook asymptomatic so they assume no causal effect (arachnoid cyst controversy for example).

Have you been on a cruise lately? I have dizzy/vertigo due to a syndrome called Mal de Debarquement, or MdDS which usually affects those who have recently been on a boat. It is a "brain mal-function." Upon leaving a boat, one usually has to get adjusted to the land, but those of us who have MdDS, our brains think we are still on the boat. Not everyone gets this from a boat - I'm one of them...but I did do a lot of travel by car, in the mountains, etc....my means of motion. Check out this website...http://www.mddsfoundation.org .

Good luck!

This is exactly what happened to me i was out of school for 3 months after multiple doctors, mri's, cat scans they could never find out what it was it is the scariest thing ever having Vertigo. Then like the 2nd month a doctor sent from Heaven said it was Vertigo. I just had to wait it out. This all happened in fifth grade and now im 16 going to be a junior and i still get dizzy spells from vertigo. They say that Vertigo is calcium deposits in your inner ear the create the illusion that you are spinning. For me the ground tilts
