"vertigo?" who's had it? what happened?

i think i 've had a vertigo spell before, but if you 've had one, what was it like? thanks!!

Severe vertigo ....feels like you just drank an entire bottle of whisky then took a ride on the "Tilt-a-Whirl." It is horrible!!!! The room moves violently from side to side and up and down. There is no way to get your equilibrium. It's awful!! Lying down doesn't help. It's best to keep completely still. I've had to be hospitalized because of it.

Mild vertigo .....feels like the floor is uneven. It feels like you're a little stoned. Very disconcerting. It's best to grab on to something so you don't fall down.

I had it diagnosed as "meniere's disease". (I also had ringing in my ears.) It went away after about 6 months.
Bonamine or gravol help a bit.

The room spins pretty hard . . .
After a test by an Audiologist , they found that some of my ear crystals were out of place and traveling into the ear canal . . .
There was a non-invasive procedure to return them to where they were suppose to be & the dizzy stuff stopped.

Two of my best friends have had vertigo. They tell me that they feel like the room or floor is moving around them (can't really walk in a straight line easily). They often look dizy and need to sit down. I know that light and sound also disturb them. Usually after they sleep for a while the spell seems to pass. I know that one of my friends says that it usually happens when she is stressed and tends to occur in a pattern (ex. 3rd week of the month). They also seem to have trouble with their sight because they tell me that they can't read signs or books etc. I hope this helps and I hope that if you do have vertigo you are able to mannage it! If you are looking for more I usually like to look at WebMD (www.webmd.com) for symptoms... I'm not sure if they have vertigo but they're usually really descriptive.

I have. I had some intense spells where the whole room was just spinning around me. My ears tricked my brain into thinking that it was, so my eyes moved, and that's called nystagmus. I went to the doctor, and was diagnosed with Benign Postional Vertigo. Its where the crystals in your ears get out of place, so your ears think the room is spinning. Mine only last about 2 minutes, happen about once a month at random times, and I feel sick afterwards just because it feels like I have been spinning in circles forever..and my eyes hurt from jerking around. Its a horrible feeling...but it's not serious. It is harmless, and they don't know what causes it. I am 18, healthy, active, and have never had any other health problems.
Hope this helped! : )

i had it too about 12 or 13 year ago.. It don't feel good at all i get very dizzy and off belance.... every time i move my head i get throw up for no reason that my tummy is not sick it keep on going i can 't control it i lose some of the fluids why vomit... and there is no food in my tunny.. it is bad, but after i throw up i get hungry but still get dizzy. i stay in bed all day dont want to move my head and body any where,,,,and also my eye get very jump cant be still ....Augh...And hope i dont ever get it again. itis horrible....
