Minieres disease/vertigo?

Hi, does anyone suffer from vertigo out there every day like myself. The specialist at the hospital is not sure whether my condition is Minieres or just vertigo. I have had many tests and they are still not sure. My left ear only has 50% of hearing, the other is fine. I am on tablets to try and control my condition but these tablets only help with the sickness.
I have dizzy spells every day and can very rarely go out on my own just in case i stumble . I have suffered these for three years now. I did have this as a child for sometime but it disappeared eventually so why would it return like this. My specialist can not even tell me if it will ever go away, he said people can suffer for years or even for the rest of their lives.
I was wondering if anyone out there suffers like this and what do they do to help themselves that i might not have thought of.
Regards Julie

My sister-inlaw has suffered for years with Menieres disease.
Between bouts she had to severely limit her sodium intake and take duretics. She is almost deaf in one ear.
Just recently she had a new treatment that involved an injection directly into her ear drum. She was terribly nervous about it - but so far it has worked out great for her - she says she feels better than she can ever remember feeling before - she is so much happier now.
According to the following web site she probably had the "gentamicin" injection.
Maybe you could ask your doctor about it?
Good luck, its a terrible disease.

I knew someone with Minieres. people with it tend to be very sound sensitive to high pitches.. Ringing in the ears is common or more so feeling pain from sounds. She had to move when the train came to her town because it was just too much. It was like having super-hearing and was very painful.

If you have none of that you may not have minieres bit another inner ear problem.

Hey,
I had a nasty bout of labyrithitus a while back, it took ages to get over... I did seek a homoeopath's help and it seemed to help... it's a similar thing in that it is a middle ear/balance viral infection... some are really sick etc as your balance is hay wire etc... I thought I would never be well again....so keep your spirits up.... all I can say is lie low and good luck....

I suffer from Menieres Disease. It sounds like you could have Menieres, the dizziness, hearing loss and sickness fits, if you suffer from tinnitus (noises in the ear) that's a sign as well. I'm on medication for Menieres called Betahistine Hydrochloride. You start by taking 16mg 3 times a day and it gets reduced to a "maintenance" dose. I'm currently on 8mg 3 times a day. It really helps me, I've only had 1 "attack" since starting the medication. If an attack comes on I tend to lie down on my bed and try and sleep for a while, sometimes it will help other times it doesn't, but it always helps to try. Ask your doctor about the medication, it might help.

Hi mom!
I love you xxxxxxxxxxx

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and I gave up Dr's years ago. there is always a cure of some sort. Dr's seem to treat the symptoms without looking for the root cause I have patients like you and I treat them with Ear Candling. I have had had a good rate of response from this treatment. Find yourself a therapist who deals with this. Providing you haven't had any operations on your ear and you have no deformity in the ears they will treat you
