Vertigo remedies?

Is there something my doctor can prescribe for vertigo, maybe ear drops or tablets?

Vertigo is my middle name. First, I am going to state that I am NOT a doctor. But, this is what I use...Meclizine 25mg (OTC is is called Dramamine II) and if I have a cold a decongestant. Your doctor may also prescribe Valium as it deadens the nerve to the inner ear.

I also have a autoimmune clotting disorder called Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome that causes vertigo/dizziness. So that makes it harder to tell what is causing what.

If it doesn't get better, please have someone drive you to your doctor to be examined - perferrably an Ears, Nose and Throat Doctor.

Have you tried Dramamine, which is over the counter?

If the vertigo is caused by an ear infection, your doctor can treat that. If it's not, he can still prescribe medication that is more effective than over the counter remedies. Meclizine and hydroxizine are both effective for treating vertigo, but they can make you drowsy. Scopolomine is very effective, and is available in a transdermal patch, worn behind the ear.

better take diazepam 2mg three times a day with some anti-vertigo like stemetil tablets

eardrops of no use

Please see the webpages for more details on dizziness / Vertigo / Balance disorder.

Please refer to my answer to your other question regarding Meniere's Disease. Your Aunt's case is VERY complex and she really needs further evaluation. There will not likely be any simple remedies for her symptoms, I'm afraid.
