Recurring Vertigo?

Ever had recurring vertigo, I have had it for over 3 months now, off and on, it is not so severe at present, like it was when it first hit me, I havent had MRI scan yet, going back to Docs tomorrow for further check ups. Why does it come back???? I find it extremely annoying and frustrating - cant drive cant do much feel like falling over and head spins. Why - why havent the doctors came up with a cure. What is the best solution to keep it from recurring and why does it come back??? Please any good advice out there with people with similiar problems.

No trauma, I do stress, lack of sleep, and many yrs ago had severe head knocks from domestic violence, no blurred vision this time, its like a rocking motion at the moment.

This sounds like postional vertigo. Not that it is recurrent but it may not have gone away. It is associated with head injuries. The treatment includes meclizine as needed and vestibular exercises with a physical therapist who knows how to do vestibular rehab or do what is called an Epleys maneuver: Lay across the foot of the bed with your head tilted backwards off teh edge of the bed then roll slowly (2 mins) to make a 360 degreee turn towards the head of the bed then get up slowly. The next day do the opposite from the head of the bed. This maneuver clears out the fluid in the posterior semicircular canal one at at time. good luck

My mother had it suddenly, and the Doctors gave her medicine to help lessen it. But they said once she got it, it would continue to recur.

I have it pretty mildly every so often, and just wait for the attack to pass. It often feels like a wave is passing over me.

Did you experience any trauma recently?

I would get an MRI and mention the past trauma.
Make sure you get the results of the MRI and research.
Good Luck

I'm sorry to hear about the violence.
Take Care

I used to have verigo passed 15 year ago i know how it feel ,,,,it is aweful feeling , you may have Meniere Disease in your ear,, do you get vomti and jumping vision ? i have the veritgo about six years and finally is stop i think is it remission right now.. hope i dont get it again...Go to the website and look to Meniere Diseaes it tell you more about it..

Yes, I have had vertigo. Had the MRI and a lot of other tests. They want to rule out things such as a brain tumor, etc. In my case they said it was Beneign Positional Vertigo. When I get it , it is only for a few days then I am over it for awhile. The way I understand it is: sometimes a tiny piece of debris falls in the inner ear and bounces around whenever you move, this causes the dizziness and nausea . When this tiny piece of debris finally settles and is no longer bouncing around... you are over the vertigo for awhile. This explanation is probably over simplified but there is no cure per se. I understand it is fairly common in older people or folks that have some sort of head trauma.
