What if the person is not terminally ill or immediately dying, does the ventilator be removed? If someone is on a ventilator, and they are not terminally ill or dying, then the goal is to wean them off of the ventilator. When someone is vented, they usually couldn't breathe well enough on their own and needed assistance. Once things are under control, then they will begin to slowly decrease the ventilator and let the patient begin to breathe on their own. I don't know what reason this person you are talking about is on a vent, but that's usually what happens to vented patients. |
