Can we put a patient for 22 days on ventilator? |
Can we put a patient for 22 days on ventilator? if you have to ask on yahoo answers i wouldn't want to be in that hospital you can, but it's not very safe as anything can happen & more complications could rise. Yes, Their are many ventilator dependent people, in the US. This sounds like a acute care problem. But, yes it is very common for critically injured pts to be on the vent for a long period of time while they (what this sounds like is a multi system failure)pt. I hope by now they have trached the pt. some people can become vent dependent, ur best bet would be number 1 a trach... number 2 a pulmonary rehab hospital who specializes in weaning I was on one for ten days, then was given a tracheotomy at Mount Sinai in NYC four years ago. I was told later that the ten days was "stretching it", but they had hoped I wouldn't need the procedure. The ventilator is hard on the patient, and requires heavy sedation, which can be dangerous. |
