Vericose veins? Health risk or just cosmetic?

I'm 30 and getting what I think is my first vericose vein (sigh). It goes across my shin, and looks kind of bulgy and very blue. I'd like to say I don't care, but it looks pretty bad according to my friends, and if there's anything to be done for it, I might look into treatments if it gets even more visible. Is there any health risk with vericose veins? I always thought they just indicated aging; are there health reasons I should have it checked out? And if I do someday decide to do something about it, what options are there? I'm a teacher and can't afford expensive cosmetic surgery for it, so if the options are insanely expensive, my blue vein and I will just learn to live with each other.

they usually are superficial vessels & the blood will eventually reroute so it still gets where it needs to be. there are several treatments for them though. you should always have something that makes u uneasy, worse case scenario u get piece of mind. u can also talk t ur doctor & maybe there is a way insurance can pay for it, its worth a shot

both

Sometimes they can be removed. The health risk is that blood clots can form in them in severe cases.
