If i have varicose veins removed, where will the blood flow that previously went through those veins?

i am a bit worried about this. how can veins be removed which are there to carry blood from A to B? where is the blood going to go if there are no veins there to carry it? are the remaining veins re-connected to each other somehow to redirect the blood?

When you have a varicrose vein, the vein stretches out and knots up near the surface of the skin.

To remove a varicrose vein, the surgeon just removes the stretched out part of the vein and then reconnects it. The vein is not actually removed, it's still there! Even if they did take it out, other veins would compensate for the blood flow.

i didnt think they removed the vein...i thought they just unblocked the bits in the vein causing the problem?

No, they're wrong. The vein is taken out in some severe cases. Sometimes it can be burnt away at the ends (micro surgery) othertimes it can be tied. When the vein is taken out the blood is simply redirected though other veins. The human body has more veins than we really need. It will be fine. If worried ask your GP.

there is not just one route blood can flow, there are networks of veins, plus if artery were to get blocked, the body attempts to grow a new artery pathway called collateral circulation to compensate.

veins of the leg are divided into 2 parts
1,superficial veins which u can see, under the skin and which turn varicos
2. deep veins which run deep near ur bones

both these systems are connected thru connecting veins and blood flows from superficial to deep and then to ur heart

during the operation , only the superficial veins are "stripped" or removed, the deep veins are still intact and they carry the blood to heart

so donot worry there are more than enough veins in the body to carry blood
