I need some vegetarian diet foods - what could I eat and lose weight? |
I have been vegetarian for about 9 months now. Whilst I have lost a small amount of weight (7-8 pounds) since making the switch, I think I eat too much bread and pasta to lose much more. What sort of things should I eat that will help me lose weight? I don't have a whole lot of time/money/skill for cooking elaborate meals. 1.) Greens and Lettuces Now, bread and pasta contains a large amount of carbohydrates, which could explain your slow weight loss. You need to decrease the amount of carbohydrates in your diet, but the source of your carb intake should be from bread and pasta. If you are to lose weight successfully, you need to drink plenty of water, keep active by walking or jogging, and importantly, increase the fibre in your diet. stop eating so much carbos,,more lettuce and carrots salad try slimming world - works for me It is not what can I eat to loose weight, it is about what you should not eat. salad, tofu, peanuts, oil and vinegar dressing. Read the labels and stay away from processed foods. Avoid the salt. I'm a vegan trying to lose weight too. I think we should go light on the breads and grains and nuts and high fat foods like avacados. I am trying this thing where I let my body cleanse it self when I'm at work - like a mini fast. And then eat a meal with alot of veggies for dinner. I read it is really good to let your body clean it self up on the inside by not eating until your very hungry. Because if you eat breakfast and then go into eating lunch and you are not really hungry - the body is still working on cleaning up from breakfast and it might not be done yet. What happens is the body sees lunch coming and shoves breakfast into fat storage - thinking we will get back to cleaning that up later. But then the body never does because it is busy with lunch and then dinner comes - and the body throws lunch into fat storage. I find falafel low fat and really tasty. Have it with a Low Fat houmous and salad and a pitta bread. I have been dieting since 1st Jan and lost 4st 12lb and i eat this regulary. More organic fruits and veggies, nuts, legumes, tofu......you can't cut fiber entirely out of your diet as that's not good for you so just reduce the amount you are eating and make sure it's whole grains and not refined whites that goes for the pasta. Me: vegetarian Keep up the good work! Being a vegetarian is good. But I don't think there is a thing called "vegetarian diet foods." All vegetables are good for the body when eaten in moderation. You can eat almost anything and still lose weight for as long as you lessen the amount of food you eat like the calories, the quantity, and the sweets. Unfortunately you will need to cook a bit to get the benefit of healthy vegetarian food as without it its hard to get a filling meal. Skill and money you needn't worry about as its not hard to make meals for little if you have the recipes. My mother is a vegetarian. She hardly eats any bread/pasta. I lost 65 lbs and kept it off over a year by increasing fiber and exercising three times a week with lots of aerobics. Watch the vitamins! Vegans are at risk for B-12 deficiency due to lack of meat in diet. Nothing wrong with being vegan, just take a supplement. it would be dangorous to make a sudden change to your diet so u should consult your doctor but try sume pulses and soup Veg |
