Is an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet deficient in viatmin B12 and Folic Acid? |
What foods and in what quantity would an ovo-lacto vegetarian have to make sure to eat to get enough of these vitamins? According to most of the studies if you have dairy products and egg (ovo-egg) (lacto-Milk) and vegetable. You are having the best diet. All green vege are rich in folic acid. Milk products and Eggs are rich in B12. You can't eat with exact amount this food, but the supplements can be taken for b12. You might consider speaking to a qualified dietitian about this matter. He/she will take into consideration your current diet and what you already may be getting from it. However,milk, cheese and eggs are significant sources of B12 (Cobalamin); Folic Acid (Folate) can be found in leafy green vegetables (such as spinach, kale, mustard greens etc.), seeds, legumes and fortified grains. |
