Does eating a vegetarian diet help you lost weight quickly?


I want to lose 60lbs in 4 months and in the 5th month lose another 10-15lbs...I wanted to know if i ate mostly salad, vegetables, lean meat and fish...would I drop the pounds quickly..someone told me about your body going into starvation mode and holding on the fat when you dramitically reduce calorie intake??? A little insight please....

yes, eating mostly vegatables with just some lean meat and fish is what everyone should do. Just be sure not to drop calories or not eat because your metabolism lowers and then you will gain weight. You should exercise alot and then spread your meals out throughout the day about 3 to 4 hours apart with about 5 meals or so but with the same amount of calories. You have to eat a balanced vegetarian diet. Lots of veggies never hurt anyone! It will help you lose weight. But be careful because vegetarian does not automatically mean low calorie. Just keep it healthy and you will do fine!

well as a vegetarian you shouldn't be eating any meat, including fish, and i didn't loose a lot of weight when i became a vegetarian 5 months ago...but i am 5'2" and only weigh 110

If you go all veg with no proteins, yes you will lose weight (muscle) and not fat, which is quite unhealthy. However, if you make certain to include beans, tofu or some other level of protein you should be okay.

Rapid weight loss can be dangerous to your health. Salad, veg and fish is good. If you can steer clear of meat. Drink plenty of water and you will be fine. Don`t forget to get some excercise. 30 minutes a day minimum. A brisk walk is fine.

If you want to loose that much weight see a doctor first please. You will get plenty of good advice as well as a check up as you could kill yourself in the process.
