Can a vegan diet be harmful to your body?

A vegan diet is very healthy as long as you are eating a *balanced* diet consisting of a variety of foods. Any diet is bad if you are just eating junk food.

I am more worried about people who eat meat making themselves unhealthy with all that nasty cholesterol, hormones, and antibiotic residues!

I think if you've ate most things and then suddenly stop, it can do major damage, prob best to do it gradual.

If u take a proper balanced diet,then no way vegan diet can be harmful, infact would be better as u age on especially with cardiovascular risk reductions.

If you don't eat foods containing the vitamins/proteins that you need to be healthy, then yes it is harmful to your body. Veganism is good for as long as you make sure that you are taking vitamin supplements and consuming enough protein. It takes a lot of work and dedication to be a vegan, especially in this society.

no. as long you supply your body with the nutrients from other source its a good idea it just might be hard to follow through

yeah. i used to be one. there's all this stuff that your supposed eat, buy and take to make up for all the stuff you would get by eating meat. i eat turkey and some seafood, but i don't eat meat every single day. i wont eat beef, even the smell makes me sick. all those supplements are good for you, it's just to much work for me to try to live off them.

If it is done right then you shouldn't have complications. It would be best to get regular check ups at the start to make sure all your vitals are OK and that you are getting sufficient nutrients.
