Does anyone know how to go about starting a vegan diet? |
Does anyone know how to go about starting a vegan diet? I've been a vegetarian for almost my entire life, and I have recently made the transition to vegan. If your still an omnivore right now, then begin by getting the meat out of your diet and replacing it with soy and beans. Once it feels normal, start taking out poultry, fish, etc. The hardest part (at least for me) was the vegan part. I began by not purchasing milk, and buying soy milk as the alternative. I did the same thing later with butter, eggs, cream cheese, etc. BTW, to get a lot of these alternatives, you'll probably have to at least shop for these kinds of things at the specialty/organics stores like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Sprout's, etc. It can be hard at times to resist the Ben & Jerries, but I PROMISE you it is COMPLETELY worth it! If you want to know some of the vegan equivalents for cooking and baking and things, just add to your question you want to know and I'll come back and answer more. Hope I helped! |
