Are there any risks for having a strict VEGAN diet?

Are there any risks for having a strict VEGAN diet?

Not enough protein. Over exposure to pesticides and herbicides. If you are going this route, use whey protein isolates for your protein supplement. You can buy it without fillers and additives at your local health food store. Add at a minimum 3/4 cup to your food daily.

As to the chemicals, make sure you wash wash wash everything! Did I say wash? Yup...use vinegar to cut wax coatings and peel what you can. The extra fiber lost from peelings isn't as bad as the chemicals. You can make up for the fiber with whole grains.

Use lots of beans in your diet. Asadopholis will cure the gas. (I didn't spell that right! hmmm ...hooked on phonics here)

Most vegans develope vitamin B anemia so watch out for muscle mass loss and fatigue. You should go get a blood work up 6 months into the program to make sure your B's and E's are where they need to be.

You may not get all the nutrients you need such as B12, iron, calcium and iodine. Authorities suggest that vegans take supplements to ensure that they get enough of these nutrients.
